OVERVIEW

How might I create an elevator pitch for potential clients that is easily accessible, legible, and eye-catching as a one page PDF?

During my internship at the Regency Group, my creative director tasked me with ideating, designing, and producing a one page product overview pamphlet. This sheet was to be used by the head of sales and marketing to gain a potential new customer. We have had previous brochures showcasing what our company creates, but the problems with these catalogs were the length and their being too information heavy. I had to create a simple, straightforward advertisement. The potential client was so impressed by my pamphlet that they are now our client. What's more, the sheet I designed is currently being used by our company as a template for onboarding new clients.

As the sole designer on this project, not only did I sharpen my design skills in creating branded assets, but I also got to learn more about the business side of design.

ITERATIONS

First Drafts

The point of this project was to create a sheet that clients could look at to understand what collateral our company can create. It needed to be:
- Clear and legible.
- Concise while being able to showcase the numerous capabilities of the Regency Group.
- In line with the Regency group's brand identity, but allowing the viewer to interpret what they can do for their own brand.

This was my first round of creating mock-up images for the sheet. I created a fake hotel to put in place of an actual company.

The problem with this was that the different directions of the objects made the viewer's eyes move all over the sheet. The different angles moving diagnoally makes the viewer feel disoriented. I got rid of the background colors, and composed the objects to be vertical.

I created a layout for my images where there is also copy. I tested different margin spacing, cropping of the photos, and colors.

PRODUCTION

The Final Product(s)
Product Overview Sheet Final

Here is the final product. The design assets you see in the above were also put onto other Regency Groups Digital Brochures. It feels great to see my design work being used within a company!!

At the end of my internship, I got offered to be a Junior graphic designer.

REFLECTION

The Intersection of Design and Business

I understood stakeholder value and communication in theory, but now I have a better understanding of this in practice. I got to work with the VP of Sales and Marketing, allowing me to gain insider perspective of how to convince a client to utilize our business. Business and design have a clear intersection. A designer needs to understand and experience firsthand what the needs of a client are in order to get their business. This is something I have learned to do.

Clear communication

As the one designer working on this, I realized the importance of clear communication. If you cannot express your message to the people within your company, you are bound to fail getting your message across to anyone.
